Anita Kalunta-Crumpton
Founding President & Director
Anita Kalunta-Crumpton holds a PhD in Criminal Justice from Brunel University London, United Kingdom. She has been a university professor for more than 20 years. Prior to her relocation to the United States, she taught at a few universities in England, United Kingdom. In addition to being an academic, Anita is an advocate for marginalized groups, particularly people of African descent. These complementary roles are reflected in her academic and non-academic work. Anita has publicized the problem of domestic violence and similar social problems through her publications and paper presentations at conferences, etc. One of the ways she puts her academic and research interests into practice is through community engagement.
Pearl Ahanonu, REALTOR®, PMP, CCNP
Secretary
Pearl is currently a REALTOR® with Texas United Realty in Houston, Texas. Prior to joining her real estate company, she was an Information Technology (IT) engineer and Project Manager. Her expertise in technology led to consulting job opportunities in Fortune 500 companies, such as Prudential Insurance Company, MCIWorldcom, and Electronic Data Systems (EDS), which is an HP company.
Volunteering and charity work is very important to Pearl. She served as president (for three years) and vice president (for two years) of her high school alumni association named Owerri Girls' Secondary School (OGSS) Alumnae USA, Inc. OGSS Alumnae USA, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) association whose mission is to promote academic excellence and leadership qualities in young women.
Pearl also served as president of Mission Glen Homeowner's Association, Inc. Board of Directors for two years. While she no longer serves on the Board, Pearl assists the Board in reviewing applications for home improvements and modifications. Pearl has supported several charities, such as Sunshine Kids Foundation, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, and Autism Speaks.
Pearl is a graduate of Hunter College, New York with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications (Journalism). Her favorite activities are reading great fiction books, writing, and keeping up to date with new technologies.
